Course Registration
In general, registering for courses must be done using SIS, the Student Information System. Beside enrolling for courses SIS may also be used to drop courses, check grades and update addresses with the Central Administration of the University of Amsterdam.
Normally students should register for around 30 EC worth of courses and projects each semester. Only during the registration period it is possible to drop courses; after the deadline all registered courses will stay in your list. If you do not pass a course, then it will end up as a 'fail' in the system. However, failed courses will never appear in official transcipts or in your diploma supplement.
As the MSc Logic is an interdisciplinary master programme courses are organized by different Master Schools and Educational Institutes. Students can get lost in the different rules and deadlines applied by these different Schools and Institutes.
First year students are not able to meet the registration deadline for their first semester. Therefore they cannot register for courses
through SIS. Unfortunately this doesn't make things any simpler for them, as now they have to follow different instructions for different
courses, depending on the school or institute organizing it. Please read below.
As of the second semester all students need to register through SIS.

First check the UvA Course Catalogue to find out by which School or Institute the course is organized and which deadline for course registration applies, then check below.

- One 'repair week' after the deadline. Students will be warned if they have not registered for any courses yet.
- Late registration: this can only be done through this webform and only with a valid reason like family or health problems. Without a valid reason you will not be registered after the 'repair week' and you will not be able to take the course, do the exam and get a grade.
- First year students: Please use this form in datanose to register for your first semester only. This form will open after regular course registration is closed. The deadline for course registrion for first year students in the first semester is Friday, September 14, 2012.

- January/June coordinated Research Projects:
To register for the projects organized in January and June of each year, contact the lecturer of the project in question and ask for permission to join. The formal registration of your grade will be taken care of by the lecturer in question after you have completed the project. - Individual Research Projects:
Registration of Individual Research Projects is also done by the lecturer. After the project is finished he or she sends an e-mail to the programme director with the title of the project, a short description, and in case the amount of EC is not 6, an explanation.
If a request for late registration for certain courses is not granted and you feel this is not right, please contact Tanja Kassenaar. This is, however, by no means a guarantee for success after all.
