The book concerns "scrutability," the thesis that all the truths about the world can, in principle, be k nown on the basis of knowledge of just a limited c lass of basic truths. Chalmers argues for the scru tability thesis and investigates which sorts of ba sic truths can serve as the relevant "scrutability base". The book explores the implications of scru tability for a range of central philosophical issu es: meaning and mental content, the existence of t he analytic and the a priori, the refutation of sk epticism, and the methodology of metaphysics, amon g others. Participation in the workshop is open, but there is a limited number of available places , and email registration is required by April 30, 2013.
