\n The second conference in the AHRC-funded seri es on\n Mathematical Cultures will take pla ce at De Morgan House\n (London) 17-19 Sept ember 2013. This meeting will articulate\n and classify mathematical values. What do mathem aticians mean\n when they use terms such as ~deep~, ~elegant~, ~explanatory~,\n etc.? What is the rational structure of the deliberatio ns\n mathematicians use to reach value judg ments (in PhD\n examinations, book reviews, journal referee reports, etc.)?\n How much variety is there in mathematical values between\n mathematical cultures? What are the virtue s of a good\n mathematician?
