Until recently, the dominant method of dealing with this topic consist ed in investigating to what extent conceivability can be a guide for assessing metaphysical modality . However, nowadays what might be called abductivi st turn has shifted the focus from conceivability to the sort of the evidential base regarding metap hysical modalities as such. In view of the last fact, the aim of the conference is, on the one ha nd, to deepen our understanding of the nature of m etaphysical modality in order to find out what is the evidential base that any good theory of modal epistemology should explain, and, on the other han d, to establish how flexible are competing theorie s of modal epistemology in explaining the nature o f modal knowledge.
