I adopt a large-scale cross-cult ural approach in order to establish which aspects of categorisation are fundamentally shared, and w hich language-specific. My work is interdisciplin ary, combining standardised psychological methodol ogy, in-depth linguistic studies and ethnographic ally-informed description. This coordinated approa ch has been used to study of domains such as spac e, event representation and more recently the lang uage of perception.
