The conference will br ing together researchers to exchange ideas and rep ort recent progress in the field of machine learni ng. ICML 2005 will be co-located with ILP 2005 (Au gust 11-13) and will take place directly after IJC AI 2005, which will take place in Edinburgh (Scotl and, July 30 - August 5). Tutorials should provid e an introduction and/or a review of the state-of- the-art of a topic that is of interest to attendan ts of a machine learning conference. These could b e on particular research topics within the two fie lds, but could also be on topics from other resear ch fields if the proposal makes clear why this is considered to be an important topic for researcher s from other areas. A tutorial must be broad enoug h to cover a research area in which there is a sig nificant publication activity in the community. Pr esentations that focus on the presenters' own rese arch results or commercial presentations are not e ligible. Submission deadline for tutorial proposal s is Feb 11, 2005.
