Assistant/Associate Professor in Philosophy (in particular logic), Astana (Kazakhstan)

The Department of History, Philosophy, and Religious Studies in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS) at Nazarbayev University in Astana, Kazakhstan invites applications for a faculty position (Assistant or Associate Professor) in Philosophy.

We are looking for someone who specializes in one of the following areas: Philosophy of Science (incl. philosophy of a special science), Logic, Metaphysics, Philosophy of Language, Philosophy of Mind. Applicants should have competence in General Philosophy of Science. An ability to teach introductory and intermediate logic, philosophy of physics, philosophy of economics, or philosophy of biomedical science would be an advantage. Women and members of underrepresented groups are especially encouraged to apply.

Applicants will be expected to demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching, research, and service. Responsibilities include, but are not limited, to teaching classes (teaching load is 2-2 with TA support for large classes), curriculum and program development, and research. The position is available from August 2017. Contracts are for a period of three year and are renewable upon positive review.
