D.J. Korteweg and G. de Vries, after whom the Math Institute of the UvA is named, were the authors of the Korteweg-de Vries equation, a source for important developments in Mathematics and Physics.

The mini-symposium is organised by Prof. Dr. Tom H. Koornwinder on the occasion of the revelation of their portrets and the completion of a showcase with documents about them.
