SUMMARY:1st International Workshop on Ontologies f
or Digital Humanities and their Social Analysis (W
 ODHSA), Graz, Austria
DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20190923
DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20190925
LOCATION:Graz, Austria
DESCRIPTION:This workshop is part of The Joint Ont
ology WOrkshops (JOWO) Episode V. The purpose of t
he workshop is twofold: on the one hand, to gather
original research work about both application and
theoretical issues emerging in the elaboration of
conceptual models, ontologies, and Semantic Web t
echnologies for the Digital Humanities (DH) and, o
n the other hand, to collect studies on the philos
ophical and social impact of such models. The com
plementary character of these two kinds of contrib
utions should allow both modelers and users to be
more aware of the modeling choices behind models a
nd applications and of the theories that constitut
e the background of such choices. This would enhan
ce transparency and reliability of the adopted mod
els and thus understanding and trust on the side o
f stakeholders and users. We welcome two types of
submissions: research articles (for presenting or
iginal unpublished work, neither submitted to, nor
accepted for, any other venue) and extended abstr
acts (for presenting work in progress, brief descr
iptions of doctoral theses, or general overviews o
f research projects). Papers should be submitted n
on-anonymously in PDF format following IOS Press f
 ormatting guidelines.
