SUMMARY:Social Models of Meaning Acquisition Works
 hop (SoMMA)

LOCATION:University of Warsaw
DESCRIPTION:There are at least three components to
the dynamics of natural language: learning, commu
nication, and evolution. The research project Soci
al models of Semantics Learning. Acquisition and E
volution of Quantifier Meaning (funded by the NCN
OPUS Scheme Grant of dr Nina Gierasimczuk) explore
s the possibilities of capturing them in a single
comprehensive mathematical model, with a special f
ocus on the semantics of quantifier expressions.
During the SoMMA Workshop, which marks the end of
this three year endeavour, we want to explore furt
her research avenues and connections between vario
us experimental approaches to formal semantics. Th
e presentations will touch upon social networks, c
oordination games, iterated learning, language evo
lution, semantic universals, neural networks, and
many others. Everybody is welcome to attend!
