Typological lin guists and theoretical syntacticians have revealed fascinating phenomena of reciprocity, which have substantially increased our knowledge of the ways languages encode reciprocal concepts. Quite indepe ndently, there have been some important advances i n the formal semantic analysis of reciprocals in E nglish. Yet, at present there is no clear understa nding of the cross-linguistic semantics of recipro cals, or even the extent to which such a general s emantics is motivated. The workshop will bring tog ether formal semanticists and experts of reciproci ty phenomena, with the goal of addressing some of the major questions in this area. Keynote speaker s are Mary Dalrymple (Oxford University) and Marti n Haspelmath (MPI-SHH Jena & Leipzig University). X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:\n
