DESCRIPTION:The Society for Philosophy of Science

ferences provide a broad forum for scholars commit
ted to making detailed and systematic studies of s
cientific practices - neither dismissing concerns
about truth and rationality, nor ignoring contextu
al and pragmatic factors. The conferences aim at c
utting through traditional disciplinary barriers a
nd developing novel approaches. Keynote speakers:
Karen Barad, University of California at Santa Cr
uz; Till Grüne-Yanoff, Royal Institute of Technolo
gy (KTH) Stockholm. We welcome contributions from
not only philosophers of science, but also philos
ophers working in epistemology and ethics, as well
as the philosophy of engineering, technology, med
icine, agriculture, and other practical fields. Ad
ditionally, we welcome contributions from historia
ns and sociologists of science, pure and applied s
cientists, and any others with an interest in phil
 osophical questions regarding scientific practice.
SPSP welcomes both proposals for individual paper
s, and also strongly encourage proposals for whole
, thematic sessions with coordinated papers, parti
cularly those which include multiple disciplinary
perspectives and/or input from scientific practiti
 oners.
