DESCRIPTION:The Third International Workshop on Ph
 ilosophy and Informatics is organized by the Insti
 tute for Formal Ontology and Medical Information S
 cience and the Special Interest Group on Philosoph
 y and Informatics of the German Informatics Societ
 y.    The workshops are designed to encourage inte
 rdisciplinary exchange on the philosophical founda
 tions of informatics. They seek to bring together 
 researchers from philosophy and informatics and ne
 ighboring disciplines in order to explore common p
 oints of interest and to develop an interface betw
 een the disciplines and a common vocabulary. The w
 orkshop also serves as the annual meeting platform
  of the members of the Special Interest Group on P
 hilosophy and Informatics. The 2006 Workshop has a
  special focus on the area of bio- and biomedical
