DESCRIPTION:The purpose of the workshop is to brid
ge the gap between the cognitive sciences and rese
arch on ontologies and, thus, to create a venue fo
r researchers interested in interdisciplinary aspe
cts of knowledge representation. More specifically
CAOS investigates how key cognitive phenomena and
concepts (and the involved terminology) can be fo
und across language, psychology and reasoning and
how they can be formally and ontologically underst
ood and analysed. It moreover seeks answers to way
s such formalisations and ontological analysis can
be exploited in Artificial Intelligence and infor
mation systems in general. CAOS 2021 is going to
happen at the Bolzano Summer of Knowledge, BOSK 20
21, in September 2021, organised as a FOIS 2021 wo
rkshop.  CAOS 2021 is planned as a hybrid event.
We welcome submissions on topics related to the on
tology of hypothesized building blocks of cognitio
n (such as image schemas, affordances, categories,
and related notions) and of cognitive capacities
(such as concept invention, language acquisition a
nd categorisation), as well as system demonstratio
ns modelling these capacities in application setti
ngs. We also welcome submissions addressing the co
gnitive and epistemological adequacy of ontologica
l modelling. Work in progress (short papers) are a
lso welcome since a central goal of the workshop i
s the discussion of ongoing interdisciplinary work
. We encourage three types of contributions: Full
research papers (10-14 pages), Short papers (5-7
pages), and Abstracts for presentation (2-4 pages)
. All papers must be original and not submitted to
or accepted by any other workshop, conference or
 journal.
