SUMMARY:Formal Ethics 2022 Conference (FE2022), Vi
 rtual
DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20220107
DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20220114
LOCATION:Virtual
DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to announce the eighth
edition of the Formal Ethics conference series. Fo
rmal Ethics 2022 will be held online using Zoom th
is coming January 7th, 8th, 13th, and 14th (for mo
st time zones). The keynote address will be given
by Matthew Adler (Duke Law School). In addition, t
here will be sixteen contributed papers. Most of t
he papers were originally scheduled to be presente
d at the in-person Formal Ethics conference that w
as to be held at Vanderbilt University in 2020 but
that was cancelled because of COVID. Formal Ethi
cs is a common denominator for the application of
tools from logic, decision theory, game theory, an
d social choice theory to the analysis of concepts
in moral and political philosophy and to the deve
lopment of ethical theory. It is a rapidly growing
field of research that goes back to the work of K
enneth Arrow, Amartya Sen, John Harsanyi, Georg He
nrik von Wright, and others. The field has recentl
y gained new impetus with formal work on non-class
ical logic, freedom and responsibility, population
ethics, value theory, and the evolution of norms
 and conventions.
