SUMMARY:XXV International Summer School in Philoso
phy of Physics "Dualities between Physics and Phil
 osophy"
DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20220606
DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20220611
LOCATION:University of Urbino
DESCRIPTION:The XXV International Summer School in
Philosophy of Physics of the University of Urbino
will focus on a crucial topic of research in phys
ics and philosophy: dualities, in particular in th
eir gauge/gravity incarnation, and their philosoph
ical implications. This topic has manifold ramifi
cations, both for physics and for philosophy, as o
ur speakers will show. The three speakers are prof
essor Jonathan Bain (Department of Technology, Cul
ture and Society/Philosophy Department, NYU), prof
essor Johanna Erdmenger (Physics Department, Unive
rsity of Würzburg), and professor Sebastian De Har
o (Institute for Logic, Language and Computation,
UvA). This year, we wish to offer three young res
earchers interested in Dualities in Physics and Ph
ilosophy the opportunity to test their skills by p
resenting their original papers to the other parti
cipants in a dedicated workshop at the end of the
school, which will also feature Jeremy Butterfield
  (Philosophy Department, University of Cambridge)
and Baptiste Le Bihan (Philosophy Department, Univ
ersity of Geneva) as senior speakers. Interested g
raduate students, postgraduates, and early researc
hers (Ph.D. degree obtained after January 2017) ar
e invited to submit a 1000 words abstract.
