SUMMARY:Prague International Colloquium 2006: Unce
 rtainty, Prague
DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20060905
DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20060908
LOCATION:Prague
DESCRIPTION:Uncertainty is a ubiquitous phenomenon
in everyday life, but it is also a topic of funda
mental significance to many scientific disciplines
. Uncertainty taken here in a broad sense, has man
y facets - among them probability and vagueness, i
ncluding possibility, confidence, fuzziness etc. T
hese are captured by different theories which ofte
n seem to be conceptually and technically incompat
ible. The aim of the conference is to provide a pl
atform for an open discussion between proponents o
f the main theories of uncertainty and vagueness o
n the market. Special attention shall be paid to t
he comparison of theories, analyzing differences a
nd similarities of the respective concepts of unce
rtainty. Of particular interest are logical aspect
s and formal models of reasoning about vague infor
mation. For more information, see http://www.flu
 .cas.cz/Logica/konf/col2006.html The Programme C
ommittee cordially invites all researchers to subm
it their papers for presentation. Submission deadl
 ine is June 6, 2006.
