SUMMARY:Workshop on "Truthmaking, Semantical Groun
 ding, & Paradoxes", Bristol, England
DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20220822
DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20220823
LOCATION:Bristol, England
DESCRIPTION:The ERC-Starting Grant Truth and Seman
tics (TRUST 803684) at the University of Bristol,
together with dr. Johannes Korbmacher (University
of Utrecht), is organizing a two-day workshop on t
ruthmaking, semantical grounding, and paradoxes. T
he workshop will be held in person in Bristol (UK)
on August 22-23, 2022. The aim of the conference
is twofold. On the one hand, we would like to inv
estigate the role that various forms of truthmakin
g semantics and semantical grounding can have in d
iagnosing the problematic nature of paradoxes (inc
luding, but not limited to, semantic paradoxes, pa
radoxes of vagueness, paradoxes of conditionals…
), and how they can be used to generate possible s
olutions to them; and, on the other hand, we would
like to study paradoxes of truthmaking or paradox
es of semantic grounding. We would like to invite
the submission of abstracts for several further t
alks on the conference'€™s themes. There are sever
al slots for submitted contributions of 45-60min.
If you are interested in giving a talk, please sen
d an abstract of no more than 2000 words to Simone
Picenni and Johannes Korbmacher. Since the main p
urpose of the workshop is to exchange results, we
welcome not only papers covering unpublished resul
ts, but also previous publications that fall withi
n the scope of the workshop. We especially encoura
ge submissions from early career researchers (post
 graduate students/PhD students/Post-Docs).
