DESCRIPTION:The purpose of this workshop is to sti
 mulate the dialogue between philosophers and psych
 ologists on foundational issues in conceptual repr
 esentation and reasoning. A major aim is to discus
 s the role of concepts in reasoning, with focus on
  how semantic similarity and typicality guide diff
 erent forms of everyday inference. Other topics to
  be addressed in the workshop are inference and me
 tacognition, generics and communicative intentions
 , and conceptual combination and modifier effects.
   The workshop is organized by the Emmy Noether Re
 search Group From Perception to Belief and Back Ag
 ain, located at the Institute for Philosophy II of
  the Ruhr University Bochum. Attending the worksho
 p is free of charge.
