Formal on tology is the systematic study of the types of ent ities and relations making up the domains of inter est represented in modern information systems. FOI S is the flagship conference of the International Association for Ontology and its Applications (IAO A), a non-profit organization promoting interdisci plinary research and international collaboration i n formal ontology. FOIS aims to be a nexus of inte rdisciplinary research and communication for resea rchers from many domains engaging with formal onto logy.
\nFOIS 2024 will be held both online (8-9 July 2024) and in Enschede, the Netherlands (15-19 July 2024), by the Semantics, Cybersecurity & Services group of the University of Twente. The conference includes the following: Contributed Le ctures - Workshops - Joint Ontology Workshops (JOW O) - Tutorials - Ontology showcase - Demonstration s - Project exhibitions.
\nTh e conference encourages the submission of high-qua lity, not previously published results on both the oretical issues and practical advancements. FOIS 2 024 seeks three types of full-length (14 pages) hi gh-quality papers on a wide range of topics:- ; Foundational papers address content-related onto logical issues, their formal representation, and t heir relevance to some aspects of information syst ems. - Application and Methods papers address nove l systems, methods, and tools related to building, evaluating, or using ontologies, emphasizing the impact of ontology contents. - Domain ontology pap ers describe a novel ontology for a specific realm of interest, clarifying ontological choices again st requirements and foundational theory, and showi ng ontology use.
