SUMMARY:International Workshop on Logic and Philos
ophy: “Agency and Intentionality: Collective and I
 ndividual”
DTSTART;TZID=Europe/Amsterdam:20240525T100000
DTEND;TZID=Europe/Amsterdam:20240526T170000
LOCATION:Tsinghua University, Beijing
DESCRIPTION:The theme of the workshop is "Agency a
nd intentionality: collective and individual". Col
lective intentionality and collective agency, and
closely related topics such as common knowledge, t
eam reasoning, public announcement and other forms
of group communication, are among the key issues
that are being studied right now in a variety of f
rameworks. Some of these frameworks are parsimoni
ous extensions of frameworks for individual agency
and individual intentionality, whereas others emp
loy a more extended conceptual and ontological app
aratus. And some of the analyses are primarily ana
lytical and conceptual, while others are logical a
nd formal. The main goal of the workshop is to bri
ng these together to exchange results and discuss
different views. Invited speakers: Branden Fitels
on (Northeastern University), Marc Slors (Radboud
University Nijmegen), Sonja Smets (University of A
msterdam) and Deborah Tollefsen (The University of
Memphis). The call for papers welcomes contribut
ions on topics within the theme, such as: -intent
 ion, agency, decision-making -responsibility and
norms -forms of identity -individuals in social
networks -group dynamics Contributed papers on o
ther topics in the area of logic and philosophy ar
e welcome as well. Scholars who want to contribut
e should send an abstract of approximately 1200 wo
rds (not including references) to: logicandphiloso
phyworkshop at gmail.com. The abstract should be p
roperly anonymised, so include a separate page wit
h name, affiliation, and contact details. All subm
issions will be reviewed by an independent program
committee. The possibility to publish selected p
apers in a special journal issue (of, e.g., Topoi
or Philosophies) is actively being explored.
