luding references, figures, etc.). Submissions wil
l be reviewed by several experts in the field. Acc
epted long papers will be presented as talks, whil
e short papers will be presented as posters. Short
papers are especially suited for smaller or in-pr
ogress research works. For both long and short pa
pers, the best contributions (submission plus pres
entation) will receive an award. In previous years
Springer has supported the ESSLLI Student Session
by offering prizes of vouchers for Springer books
. We aim to offer the same prizes this year. Such
prizes will be awarded based on the content and qu
ality of the paper and the presentation at ESSLLI
. The ideas presented should be novel and promisin
 g. The presentation at ESSLLI should be adapted to
the wide variety of backgrounds that ESSLLI parti
cipants come from: everybody should be able to lea
 rn/understand something new.
