DESCRIPTION:The second European Summer School on t
 he Philosophy of Mathematics aims to bring togethe
 r Master and PhD students interested in the connec
 tion between philosophy and mathematics, giving th
 em the opportunity to discuss related topics with 
 leading scholars in the field. Topics will be sele
 cted reflecting participants’ interests and may in
 clude:  * Mathematical knowledge and mathematical 
 understanding  * Justification and representation 
 in mathematics  * Informal proofs and mathematical
  rigor  * The role of intuition and diagrams in ma
 thematical reasoning  * Experimental mathematics a
 nd mathematical practice  * Mathematical ontology 
  The School will include tutorials by Jessica Cart
 er (Aarhus University), Yacin Hamami (ETH Zurich) 
 and Leon Horsten (University of Konstanz), as well
  as a training unit on "Quantitative and qualitati
 ve empirical methods for philosophers of mathemati
 cs" by Matthew Inglis and Deborah Kant.
