nguage, 25th April 2024, Cambridge, UK
DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20240425
LOCATION:Cambridge, UK
DESCRIPTION:This event, organised by members of th
e Semantics, Pragmatics, and Philosophy (SPP) rese
arch group of the University of Cambridge, aims to
bring together those interested in abstract conce

nderstanding the meaning of abstract concepts. Thi
s could include work on topics such as time, conce
ptual engineering, investigations into concepts su

oncepts, or diachronic investigations of scientifi
c or social abstract concepts, to name just a few.
The workshop aims to be an environment in which
PhD and graduate students may present their work
and get feedback from their peers, as well as thos
e who may not traditionally fall within their disc
ipline's boundaries.  The event will also include
talks from three academics: Dr. Sean Enda Power (U
niversity of Cork), Dr. Derek Ball (St Andrews Uni
versity), and Prof. Kasia Jaszczolt (University of
Cambridge).   We invite proposals for presentatio
ns consisting of 300 words plus bibliography. This
will be a free, one-day event. PhD/Grad presentat
ions will be 20-min long + 10 minutes for question
s/discussion. Ongoing works will be considered and
are explicitly encouraged.  Abstracts for poster
 presentations also accepted.
