SUMMARY:The Fifth International Workshop on System
s and Algorithms for Formal Argumentation (SAFA20
 24), Hagen, Germany

DESCRIPTION:Computational models of argumentation
are approaches that deal with the representation a
nd interaction of arguments and counterarguments.
These models can be applied in all areas that bene
fit from automatic decision-support such as medici
ne, accounting, chemistry, and law. Many of these
models were inspired by works within the fields of
non-monotonic reasoning and logic programming and
therefore share the sometimes considerable comput
ational complexity of these approaches. Algorithm
ic aspects of computational models of argumentatio
n are an important area, as witnessed by the popul
arity of the International Competition on Computat
ional Models of Argumentation (ICCMA). This worksh
op aims at complementing the competition by provid
ing a forum to present and discuss both systems an
d algorithms dealing with all aspects of computati
onal argumentation, in particular those approaches
addressing the tracks of the competition. This w
orkshop welcomes technical contributions in all ar
eas dealing with algorithms and systems of formal
argument. The workshop specifically welcomes preli
minary works on the above topics. In particular, n
o systematic evaluations are needed for inclusion
in the program. Finally, we welcome position paper
s that propose new tracks for the competition or d
iscuss general matters related to it.
