FOIS aims to be a nexus of interdisciplinary research and c ommunication for researchers from many domains eng aging with formal ontology. Common application are as include conceptual modeling, database design, k nowledge engineering and management, software engi neering, organizational modeling, artificial intel ligence, robotics, computational linguistics, the life sciences, bioinformatics and scientific resea rch in general, geographic information science, in formation retrieval, library and information scien ce, as well as the Semantic Web.
\nFOIS is the flagship conference of the International Asso ciation for Ontology and its Applications (IAOA), a non-profit organization promoting in terdisciplinary research and international collabo ration in formal ontology.
\nThe conference encourages submissions of high qual ity, not previously published results on both theo retical issues and practical advancements. FOIS 20 25 seeks full-length high-quality papers on three tracks: - Foundational track: for papers that addr ess content-related ontological issues, their form al representation, and their relevance to some asp ect of information systems. - Application and Meth ods track: for papers that address novel systems, methods, and tools related to building, evaluating , or using ontologies, emphasizing the impact of o ntology contents. - Domain Ontology track: for pap ers that describe a novel ontology for a specific realm of interest, clarifying ontological choices against requirements and foundational theory, and showing ontology use.
