SUMMARY:15th International Conference on Formal On
tology in Information Systems (FOIS 2025), , 08-1
 2 September 2025 (Catania, Italy), 04-05 September
   2025 (online)

DESCRIPTION:FOIS aims to be a nexus of interdiscip
linary research and communication for researchers
from many domains engaging with formal ontology. C
ommon application areas include conceptual modelin
g, database design, knowledge engineering and mana
 gement, software engineering, organizational model
 ing, artificial intelligence, robotics, computatio
nal linguistics, the life sciences, bioinformatics
and scientific research in general, geographic in
 formation science, information retrieval, library
and information science, as well as the Semantic W
eb. FOIS is the flagship conference of the Intern
ational Association for Ontology and its Applicati
ons (IAOA), a non-profit organization promoting in
 terdisciplinary research and international collabo
ration in formal ontology. The conference encoura
ges submissions of high quality, not previously pu
blished results on both theoretical issues and pra
 ctical advancements. FOIS 2025 seeks full-length h
igh-quality papers on three tracks: - Foundational
track: for papers that address content-related on
tological issues, their formal representation, and
their relevance to some aspect of information sys
tems. - Application and Methods track: for papers
that address novel systems, methods, and tools rel
ated to building, evaluating, or using ontologies,
emphasizing the impact of ontology contents. - Do
main Ontology track: for papers that describe a no
vel ontology for a specific realm of interest, cla
rifying ontological choices against requirements a
nd foundational theory, and showing ontology use.
