SUMMARY:5th Natural Logic Meets Machine Learning W
 orkshop (NALOMA 2025), Bochum, Germany
DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20250804
DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20250808
LOCATION:Bochum, Germany
DESCRIPTION:There has been an ever-growing interes
t in tasks targeting Natural Language Understandin
g and Reasoning. Although deep learning models hav
e achieved human-like performance in many such tas
ks, it has also been repeatedly shown that they la
ck the precision, generalization power, reasoning
capabilities, and explainability found in more tra
ditional, symbolic approaches. Thus, current resea
rch has started employing hybrid methods, combinin
g the strengths of each tradition and mitigating i
ts weaknesses. This workshop would like to promote
this research direction and foster fruitful dialo
g between the two disciplines by bringing together
researchers working on hybrid methods in any subf
ield of Natural Language Understanding and Reasoni
ng.   The 5th iteration of the NALOMA (Natural Log
ic Meets Machine Learning) workshop is co-located
with ESSLLI. The NALOMA workshop invites submissi
ons on any (theoretical or computational) aspect o
f hybrid methods concerning Natural Language Under
standing and Reasoning (NLU&R). NALOMA accepts arc
hival papers (to appear in the ACL anthology proce
edings) and (non-archival) extended abstracts. Bot
h accepted papers and extended abstracts are expec
ted to be presented at the workshop. Extended abst
racts will be presented as talks or posters at the
  discretion of the program committee.
