One is the ALC 10 (Asian Logic Conference) in Kobe (Sept. 1 - 6) ; the other is a workshop on Combinatorial and Des criptive Set Theory in Kyoto (Aug. 25 - 29). Act ivities in set theory at the ALC include one 4-hou r tutorial (Greg Hjorth), one plenary lecture (Jus tin Moore), and a special session with eight speak ers. The set theory workshop in Kyoto will feature two minicourses (Simon Thomas and Menachem Kojman ). Several speakers have already been invited, and we hope there will be many more talks, in particu lar by junior participants. The Asian Logic Conf erence has occurred every three years in Asia-Paci fic region since 1981, Singapore. The purpose of t he conference is to facilitate interaction between researchers interested in mathematical logic, log ic in computer science, and philosophical logic. I t aims at promoting activities in mathematical log ic in the Asia-Pacific so that logicians both from within Asia and elsewhere would get together and exchange information and ideas. For more informa tion, see http://kurt.scitec.kobe-u.ac.jp/ALC10/ ( ALC) and http://kurt.scitec.kobe-u.ac.jp/~brendle/ rims2008/e-home.html (Workshop). The deadline f or contributed talks at the ALC is May 31. People interested in talking at the workshop should also the organizers by May 31. X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:
