DESCRIPTION:ALI, the Association for Logic in Indi
 a, announces the next edition of its biennial Inte
 rnational Conference on Logic and its Applications
  (ICLA), to be held at the Institute of Mathematic
 al Sciences, Chennai, from January 7 to 11, 2009. 
   ICLA is a forum for bringing together researcher
 s from a wide variety of fields that formal logic 
 plays a significant role in, along with mathematic
 ians, philosophers and logicians studying foundati
 ons of formal logic in itself. A special feature o
 f this conference is the inclusion of studies in s
 ystems of logic in the Indian tradition, and histo
 rical research on logic.   The earlier events in t
 his series featured many eminent logicians as invi
 ted speakers, as will be the case this year as wel

  on past events.   Authors are invited to submit p
 apers presenting original and unpublished research
  in any area of logic and applications. Of special
  interest are articles on historical Indian system
 s of logic, especially in relation to modern logic
