SUMMARY:Trends in Logic VI: Logic and the foundati
 ons of physics, Brussels, Belgium
DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20081211
DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20081212
LOCATION:Brussels, Belgium
DESCRIPTION:The main goal of this conference is to
present current trends situated at the interface
of Logic and the Foundations of Physics. The confe
rence will bring together researchers from both fi
elds, giving them a forum to present new developme
nts, exchange ideas, explore and establish new con
nections between logic and physics. On the one han
d, we are interested in technical contributions on
the use of new methods and techniques coming from
logic, computation and information theory to axio
matize and model physical theories and to reason a
bout their concepts, phenomena and/or applications
. On the other hand, we are interested in contribu
tions coming from the foundations and philosophy o
f physics dealing with the general conceptual fram
ework and with questions of interpretation. In par
ticular, we solicit contributions that merge new d
evelopments in logic and physics, focusing for ins
tance on how the use of techniques from logic can
be combined with insights in physics to yield a ne
w perspective on the main foundational issues and
open problems in modern physics. For more inform
 ation, see http://www.vub.ac.be/CLWF/TrendsVI We
invite contributions on the subjects of this confe
rence. Please send your submission in PDF format,
not exceeding 2 pages, by September 15, 2008.
