SUMMARY:Logic in Databases Workshop 2009 (LID 2009
 ), Roskilde, Denmark
DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20091029
DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20091030
LOCATION:Roskilde, Denmark
DESCRIPTION:Ever since Codd's Relational Model, lo
gic has played a major role in the field of databa
ses. The significance and impact of this role have
grown stronger over the years as data management
research marched through many a data model, with l
ogic keeping up and providing the foundations ever
y step of the way. Some of the latest additions to
this long list of models are XML, semantic web, p
robabilistic relational models, integrated model o
f DB+IR, data integration models, and models of un
clean data to name a few. For some of these, corre
sponding logics already exist or are being explore
 d. The significance of logic's role for data manag
ement will continue regardless of the data model.
Logic is a fundamental tool for understanding and
analyzing several aspects of data management. The
Logic in Databases workshop, LID 2009, is a forum
for bringing together researchers from around the
world who are focusing on all logical aspects of d
ata management. For more information, see http:/
 /LID2009.ruc.dk/ The Programme Committee cordial
ly invites all researchers to submit their papers
for presentation. Submission deadline is July 1, 2
 009.
