 Hungary

LOCATION:Budapest, Hungary
DESCRIPTION:The conference, part of the annual con
 ference series "LANGUAGE, UNDERSTANDING, INTERPRET
ATION", is held in memory of Imre Ruzsa (1921-2008
), the father of modern philosophical logic in Hun
gary. His professional interests centered around m
odal logic, intensional logic, modeling natural la
nguage in systems of intensional logic, and the fo
undations of logic and mathematics. He always thou
ght of his generalization of A. N. Prior's concept
of semantic value gaps to quantified, intensional
and type-theoretic systems as his most important
contribution to logic. For more information, see
  http://phil.elte.hu/ruzsaconf/ or contact Prof. D
 r. Andras Mate at mate at ludens.elte.hu. Contri
butions for 20-minute panel-presentations are soug
ht in philosophical logic, mathematical logic, for
mal semantics, philosophy of mathematics, and phil
osophy of language. Plenary talks will be in Engli
sh; some of the afternoon panels are held in Engli
sh, some in Hungarian. Graduate students are encou
