SUMMARY:Sydney-Tilburg Conference on "The Future o
f Philosophy of Science", Tilburg, The Netherland
 s
DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20100414
DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20100416
LOCATION:Tilburg, The Netherlands
DESCRIPTION:Philosophy of science deals with the f
oundations and the methods of science. While the s
cope of philosophy of science is rather uncontrove
rsial, there is considerable disagreement about it
s methodology. A look into the relevant journals r
eveals that there is a plurality of approaches. In
spite of this, there also seem to be undeniable t
rends in our discipline, such as the increasing sp
ecialization, and the increasing co-operation with
empirical scientists. This conference will explor
e the future of philosophy of science. In particul
ar, we are interested in how the different methods
philosophers of science use relate to each other,
whether they can fruitfully complement each other
, and whether current trends allow predictions abo
ut the development of our field. For more inform
 ation, see http://www.uvt.nl/tilps/FPS2010 We in
vite contributions that combine cutting-edge indiv
idual research with a general perspective on the m
ethods and future of philosophy of science. Deadli
ne for submissions: 15 November 2009.
