\n The symposium comprises a two-day graduate con ference and a\n two-day research workshop wi th Scott Soames. It is organized by\n the Em my Noether Research Group "Understanding and the A\n Priori" at the University of Co logne. The graduate\n conference will featu re eight talks by graduated students on\n is sues related to meaning, modal truths, a priori kn owledge and\n their interrelations, each fol lowed by a short comment by a\n graduate stu dent. The keynote lecturer is Scott Soames. The\n workshop is aimed at researchers interested in the work of\n Scott Soames. In addition to a discussion of selected papers of\n Soam es' the workshop will feature four critical commen ts on\n aspects of his work.\n

\n Graduate students interested in pre senting at the conference\n are encouraged to submit a manuscript of about 4000 words by 1\n February 2010. Researchers interested in p resenting are\n encouraged to submit a deta iled abstract of 1000 words or less\n by 15 March 2010.\n
