SUMMARY:Workshop on Theories of Information Dynami
cs and Interaction and their Application to Dialo
 gue, Copenhagen, Denmark
DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20100816
DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20100820
LOCATION:Copenhagen, Denmark
DESCRIPTION:Theoretical approaches to communicatio
n and dialogue modeling are varied and often unrel
ated because separately focusing on different aspe
cts of dialogue (speech acts, goals, beliefs, plan
s, questions, conventions, roles, cooperation, dis
 putes, argumentation, reference, semantics-pragmat
ics interface). On the other hand, the area of fou
ndations of multi-agent systems is inducing new de
velopments in logics of interaction and informatio
n dynamics, with a recent trend towards comparison
and integration. Analyzing the impact of this tre
nd on communication and dialogue modeling is timel
 y. This workshop aims at discussing formal theor
ies and logics of information dynamics and interac
tion and their applications to dialogue and commun
ication modeling. It is intended to bring together
logicians, linguists and computer scientists in o
rder to provide a better understanding of the pote
ntialities and limitations of formal methods for t
he analysis of dialogue and communication. Its sco
pe includes not only the technical aspects of logi
cs, but also multidisciplinary aspects from lingui
stics, philosophy of language, philosophy of socia
l reality, social sciences (social psychology, eco
nomics). The focus of the workshop will be on rece
nt developments, especially those that combine sev
eral approaches to deal with complex dialogue and
communication phenomena. For more information, s
 ee http://www.irit.fr/~Laure.Vieu/Esslli10 This wo
rkshop is organized as part of the European Summer
School on Logic, Language and Information 2010.
Authors are invited to submit an extended abstrac
t presenting work relevant to the area of informat
ion dynamics, interaction and dialogue. Deadline f
 or submission: Apr 12, 2010.
