DESCRIPTION:In the summer of 2010, the Department 
 of Philosophy at Carnegie Mellon University will h
 old a three-week summer school in logic and formal
  epistemology for promising undergraduates in phil
 osophy, mathematics, computer science, linguistics
 , and other sciences. The goals are to introduce s
 tudents to cross-disciplinary fields of research a
 t an early stage in their career, and to forge las
 ting links between the various disciplines.   The 
 summer school will be held from Monday, June 7 to 
 Friday, June 25, 2010. There will be morning and a
 fternoon lectures and daily problem sessions, as w
 ell as outings and social events. This year's topi
 cs are "Logic and Scientific Inquiry", "Computabil
 ity and Foundations" and "Philosophical Logic and 
 Formal Epistemology".   The summer school open to 
 undergraduates, as well as to students who will ha
 ve just completed their first year of graduate sch
 ool. Applicants need not be US citizens. There is 
 a $20 nonrefundable application fee. Deadline for
