DESCRIPTION:The Indian traditions of logic and epi
stemology do not fit into the deductive paradigm o
f mathematical logic which forms the foundations o
f a large part of current philosophical logic. Ins
tead, intersubjectivity and interaction play an im
portant role. In this respect, they are siumilar t
o large parts of the Western medieval and early mo
dern logic traditions (e.g., the obligationes or t
he Logique du Port Royal). In the past decades,
logicians focused on the interactive paradigm and
investigated logics of knowledge, belief and comm
unication. These logics have been successfully use
d in the formalization of Western medieval texts.
We expect that similar successes are possible in t
he field of Indian logic and epistemology. Our wor
kshop will be an encounter between the two relevan
t research communities. For more information, se
