DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20101124
LOCATION:Vienna, Austria
DESCRIPTION:The conference "Highlights of AutoMath
A" is the culmination of the activities of the Res
earch Network "Automata: From Mathematics to Appli
cations", joining top research teams from 14 count
ries and funded by the European Science Foundation
(ESF). In 18 survey lectures by leading experts
, the current state-of-the-art of automata theory
will be presented, with a focus on progress obtain
ed during the past decade, both in foundations and
applications, and addressing also the challenges
that will guide future research. The conference is
an ideal and unique venue for all who are interes
ted in an up-to-date overview of this rich and fas
tly developing area. For younger researchers the
conference will serve as an "Advanced Winter Scho
ol of Automata Theory". Limited travel support for
young researchers (up to 30 year old) is availabl
e (up to 300 Euro per person). Applications should
be sent to Werner Kuich, the head of the organizi
ng committee (kuich at pop.tuwien.ac.at). For mo
