SUMMARY:First International Spring School on Decla
rative Agent Languages and Technologies (DALT Spri
ng School 2011), Bertinoro (Forlì-Cesena), Italy

DESCRIPTION:DALT is a well-established forum for r
esearchers interested in sharing their experiences
in combining declarative and formal approaches wi
th engineering and technology aspects of agents an
d multiagent systems. Building complex agent sy
stems calls for models and technologies that ensur
e predictability, allow for the verification of pr
operties, and guarantee flexibility. Developing te
chnologies that can satisfy these requirements sti
ll poses an important and difficult challenge. Her
e, declarative approaches have the potential of of
fering solutions satisfying the needs for both spe
cifying and developing multiagent systems. Moreove
r, they are gaining more and more attention in imp
ortant application areas such as the semantic web,
  service-oriented computing, security, and electro
nic contracting. The DALT School builds on the
success of 8 editions of the international AAMAS w
orkshop series, and aims at giving a comprehensive
introduction to this exciting research domain and
disseminate the results of research achieved in t
his 8-year-long activity with a perspective on the
future. For more information, see http://lia.de
