 n the series of "Ecole de Printemps d'Informatique
  Théorique" and is supported by the ESF project 'G
 AMES'.   It will consist of nine lectures presenti
 ng important developments in language theory, auto
 mata, and games. The lectures are intended to be a
 ccessible to a wide audience, but some familiarity
  with automata theory and logic is recommended.
