SUMMARY:Questions in Discourse, Frankfurt
DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20120307
DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20120309
LOCATION:Frankfurt
DESCRIPTION:This workshop focuses on the interacti
on of form and meaning of linguistic expressions w
ith questions in discourse. It is well known that
such an interaction exists, for instance, focus in
an answer often corresponds to the wh-word in an
explicit or implicit question, and some verbs can
even embed overt or concealed questions. Recently,
however, important progress has been achieved in
this regard. Invited speakers: David Beaver, Jer
oen Groenendijk, Malte Zimmermann For more inform
 ation, see https://sites.google.com/site/inquisiti
 vesemantics/workshops/ The workshop organizers in
vite theoretical papers or case studies that discu
ss the ways in which questions can be captured in
a discourse model, the interaction of questions wi
th the interpretation of other expressions, and th
e inquisitive nature of disjunctive, indefinite, a
 nd interrogative constructions. Submission deadlin
 e: August 15, 2011.
