SUMMARY:AISB/IACAP World Congress 2012 (in honour
  of Alan Turing), Birmingham, U.K.
DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20120702
DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20120706
LOCATION:Birmingham, U.K.
DESCRIPTION:For the Turing year 2012, the AISB (Th
e Society for the Study of Artificial Intelligence
and Simulation of Behaviour) and the IACAP (The I
nternational Association for Computing and Philoso
phy) merge their annual symposia/conferences to th
e AISB/IACAP World Congress. The Congress has been
inspired by a desire to honour Alan Turing and by
the broad and deep significance of Turing's work
to AI, to the philosophical ramifications of compu
ting, and to philosophy and computing more general
ly. The Congress is one of the events forming the
Alan Turing Year. The intent of the Congress is
to stimulate a particularly rich interchange betwe
en AI and Philosophy on any areas of mutual intere
st, whether directly addressing Turing's own resea
rch output or not. The Congress will consist mainl
y of a number of collocated Symposia on specific r
esearch areas, interspersed with Congress-wide ref
reshment breaks, social events and invited Plenary
Talks. For more information, see http://events.
 cs.bham.ac.uk/turing12/ Proposals for Symposia ar
e welcomed in all areas of AI and cognitive scienc
e (as at normal AISB Conventions) and all areas of
philosophy related to computing (as at normal IAC
AP conferences). We welcome sequels to previous AI
SB symposia or IACAP theme sessions. Symposia are
expected normally to last for one day or two days,
but somewhat shorter or longer possibilities can
be considered. Each Symposium will be organized by
its own programme committee. The deadline for Sym
posium proposals is 1 September 2011
