DESCRIPTION:The University of North Carolina will inaugurate an annual conference series, beginning in 2012, dedicated to complexity theory, with part icular application to understanding the intricacie s of human experience across all domains. The goal of the series is to provide a trans-disciplinary venue for scholars from the humanities and the soc ial sciences, as well as some aspects of the natur al sciences (such as neuroscience, pharmacology, e tc.). Since matters of life and death pertain to h uman experience in profound and important ways, th e conference hopes to attract representatives from the allied health sciences as well. The confere nce series will be dedicated to a particular topic each year.
