SUMMARY:Third Workshop on Controlled Natural Langu
 ages (CNL 2012), Zuerich, Switzerland
DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20120829
DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20120831
LOCATION:Zuerich, Switzerland
DESCRIPTION:A controlled natural language (CNL) is
based on natural language but comes with restrict
ions on vocabulary, grammar, and/or semantics. The
general goal is to reduce or eliminate ambiguity
and complexity. Some of these languages are desi
gned to improve communication among humans, especi
ally for non-native speakers of the respective nat
ural language. In other cases, the restrictions on
the language are supposed to make it easier for c
omputers to analyze such texts in order to improve
  computer-aided, semi-automatic, or automatic tran
slations into other languages. A third group of CN
L has the goal to enable reliable automated reason
ing on seemingly natural texts. Such languages hav
e a direct mapping to some sort of formal logic an
d should improve the accessiblity of formal knowle
dge representations or specifications for people u
nfamiliar with formal notations. All these types o
f CNL are covered by this workshop. For more inf
 ormation, see http://attempto.ifi.uzh.ch/site/cnl2
012/ We invite researchers to submit papers with
novel contributions in the area of CNL. Submission
  deadline: 9 March 2012.
