SUMMARY:Spatial Representation and Logic, Lausanne
 , Switzerland

LOCATION:Lausanne, Switzerland
DESCRIPTION:The way in which human beings comprehe
nd their spatial environment has always been at th
e core of philosophical attention. At the beginnin
g of the 20th century, philosophers started develo
ping formal ontological theories that should captu
re the structural relationships among things in sp
ace, thereby giving rise to qualitative geometries
. In more recent years, qualitative geometry has b
ecome increasingly popular among computer scientis
ts whose aim is to model human behaviour in a natu
ral environment. Our workshop will focus on both f
ormal ontological theories of spatial representati
on, and their applications in Computer Science.
