SUMMARY:2nd Hamburg Summer School in Philosophy: K
it Fine on Truthmaker Semantics, Hamburg, Germany
DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20130722
DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20130726
LOCATION:Hamburg, Germany
DESCRIPTION:This course examines and develops a ve
rsion of situation semantics called truthmaker sem
antics. The first part of the course provides a ba
sic exposition of the semantics; while the second
part of the course considers a number of different
applications of the semantics. Special emphasis w
ill be placed on the notion of partial content, wh
ich derives from Kant's notion of an analytic trut
h and provides an alternative to the notion of log
ical consequence in dealing with many problems.
During the course, Professor Kit Fine (Silver Prof
essor of Philosophy & Mathematics at NYU) will pre
sent and lead discussion on both published and unp
ublished work on the topic; opportunities for pres
entations from participants will also be provided.
More information regarding the Summer School is
available on the course website (http://hamburger
sommerkurs.wordpress.com/), but if you have any fu
rther questions, please feel free to contact the o
 rganizers at sommerkurs at gmx.de.
