SUMMARY:Groundedness in Semantics and Beyond, Oslo
 , Norway
DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20130823
DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20130824
LOCATION:Oslo, Norway
DESCRIPTION:The notion of groundedness has been ce
ntral to research on the semantic paradoxes ever s
ince Kripke's seminal work on truth, and the notio
n continues to inspire work in this area. Recently
, the notion has been applied more widely, for ins
tance to criteria of identity, abstraction princip
les, and the semantics of modal predicates. There
is also a renewed interest in the notion of ground
ing in metaphysics, and of course the focus on 'gr
ounded objects' in all of these areas is closely r
elated to the emphasis on well-founded sets in set
theory. This workshop aims to bring together rese
archers who deal with groundedness in logic, seman
tics, metaphysics, and the philosophy of mathemati
cs in order to get a clearer understanding of this
concept and of its applications. For more infor
 mation, see http://www.hf.uio.no/ifikk/english/res
