SUMMARY:AISB Workshop on Modelling Organisational
Behaviour and Social Agency, Bournemouth, U.K.
DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20140127
DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20140128
LOCATION:Bournemouth, U.K.
DESCRIPTION:The Society for the Study of Articial
Intelligence and the Simulation of Behaviour (AISB
) is organizing a Workshop on Modelling Organisati
onal Behaviour and Social Agency. The event is hos
ted by Bournemouth University. Agent-based model
s (ABMs) allow to observe the complexity of a syst
em's interactions in the making. This is of intere
st for the social sciences because of a presumed o
ntological correspondence of agents with the atoms
of social life. An agent can be anything from sta
tes to socio-cultural structures, to the environme
nt. This methodological vagueness can be the scrut
inised with the theoretical question of what is th
e basic unit for the analysis of social systems in
 -between culture, organisation, interactions, and
the body. This is of particular relevance for the
analysis of organisations, and hence we would like
to bring together a group of people that is inter
ested in any aspect of ABM of social agents in org
anisations. For more information, see http://www
 .aisb.org.uk/index.php/news/82-bulletin/ We invi
te submissions that seek to examine the applicatio
ns, structure, how-to, potentials, and philosophic
al and theoretical underpinnings of ABMs applied t
o organisational behaviour and social agency. The
workshop welcomes contributions from any disciplin
 e. Abstracts should be submitted by November 3, 20
 13.
