The movement's basic idea is to i ntroduce experimental methods (other than thought experiments) or, more broadly conceived, empirical methods to philosophy. This workshop brings toget her researchers who implement empirical methods fr om linguistics in philosophical research. Althou gh the focus of the workshop is on the use of such methods in philosophy, both philosophers and ling uists will be involved. Each of the workshop sessi ons will open with a paper demonstrating the appli cation of a specific linguistic method in philosop hy. This paper will be followed by two peer commen taries, one by a linguist, the other by a philosop her. The primary purpose of the workshop is explor atory: The potential applications, the benefits an d the limits of linguistic methods in philosophy s tand in need of clarification. The secondary purpo se is to create a networking opportunity for resea rchers who employ (and those who intend to employ) empirical methods from linguistics in philosophy.
