SUMMARY:Summer School and Workshop "Abstraction: P
 hilosophy and Mathematics", Oslo, Norway
DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20140521
DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20140523
LOCATION:Oslo, Norway
DESCRIPTION:This combined summer school and worksh
op aims to take stock of the abstractionist progra
mme after three decades of intensive philosophical
and technical study, as well as to make progress
on some questions that have recently received much
attention, such as the metaontology of abstractio
n and the variety of responses to the bad company
problem, including the possibility of a more 'dyna
mic' approach to abstraction (recently advocated b
y Øystein Linnebo, James Studd, and others), which
sees abstraction as a process whereby ever greate
r domains of abstracta are 'generated'. For more
  information, see http://philevents.org/event/show
/12908. For any questions, please contact Salvator
e Florio at florio at ksu.edu A limited number of
contributed papers will be accepted for presentat
ion. For consideration, please submit an extended
abstract or a complete paper, ready for blind revi
ew, to oystein.linnebo at ifikk.uio.no by February
  15, 2014.
